As part of our 40th Anniversary Employee Spotlight Series, we’re celebrating the people whose commitment and expertise have helped make Sargent-Disc what it is today. This time, we’re shining the spotlight on a valued member of our Accounts team, Julie Rayner, who has been part of the Sargent-Disc family since September 2012.
After working for a company that wasn’t the right fit, Julie was eager for a new opportunity. Thanks to a friend who received a Sargent-Disc job specification from a recruitment agency and thought of her, a new chapter began that would lead to nearly 14 years with the business.
One of the most memorable moments came not long into the role, when she found herself running the department single-handedly while a colleague took time off.
Over the years, she has witnessed remarkable growth across the company. When Julie joined, she was employee number 24 and one of just two people in the Accounts department. Today, Sargent-Disc has grown to around 60-70 employees, with a nine-person Accounts team supporting the business.
What keeps her motivated? The satisfaction of tackling a busy workload and ending the week with a sense of achievement.
“I love Fridays. It’s a non-stop chase to the finish line and there’s nothing better than getting a busy day under your belt.”
Reflecting on her time at Sargent-Disc, she describes her career journey as one of steady progression alongside a growing department.
“I wasn’t looking to break any glass ceilings. I just wanted a job I could do well, with friendly colleagues and decent employers. As I’m still here, you can take it that those boxes have been ticked.”
Looking ahead, she’s excited to see Sargent-Disc continue leading the industry and expanding its global reach.
“Still being the best at what we do and doing it globally!”
