Ben Moses: Modernising Today, Building for Tomorrow

As we continue celebrating 40 years of Sargent-Disc, we’re highlighting the people who are helping shape the future of our business. This spotlight features a member of our development team whose passion for modernisation, problem-solving and continuous improvement has made a significant impact in a relatively short time.

Joining Sargent-Disc in January 2024, Ben Moses was attracted by the opportunity to tackle one of software development’s biggest challenges: reducing technical debt and modernising our frontend applications.

“The chance to refactor and strangle technical debt out of the frontend codebase(s) was what brought me here.”

One of his standout achievements has been helping transform our mobile applications. What had become an ageing platform was completely reimagined through a major redevelopment project.

“Over the course of around three months, we rewrote the mobile applications from the ground up, moving to a new framework, new deployment workflow and higher standards.”

Since joining the business, Ben has seen a growing focus on adaptation and continuous improvement across our technology platforms.

“We’ve made big improvements in older codebases which are beginning to develop like greenfield projects.”

A key reason he enjoys his role is the trust placed in individuals to take ownership and deliver results.

“A task is given out with the details and requirements defined, and it’s left up to the person responsible to go and get it done.”

That culture of trust is matched by opportunities to learn and develop. Through access to training and exposure to different technologies, Ben has been able to broaden both his technical and professional skillset.

“I’ve had access to numerous courses, including management courses, and opportunities to spread into other programming languages and codebases.”

Looking ahead, he is excited by the possibilities that AI and continued modernisation can bring to the business.

“If we keep cleaning up, adopting best practices and embracing AI, we’ll be developing faster than my MacBook can keep up.”

Ben’s story reflects the innovative mindset that continues to drive Sargent-Disc forward as we evolve our products, platforms and services for the future.

Dinesh Kshirsagar: Delivering Innovation Through Collaboration

As we continue celebrating 40 years of Sargent-Disc, we’re shining a spotlight on the talented individuals who help drive our business forward. This spotlight features Dinesh Kshirsagar, a team member whose expertise, problem-solving skills and commitment to continuous improvement have made a significant impact over the past four and a half years.

On joining Sargent-Disc as a Business Analyst, he said,
“I was attracted to the opportunity to work for a well-established company with a strong reputation and a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.”
Since joining, he has played a key role in supporting and enhancing the CrewStart platform, helping to deliver improvements that benefit both clients and users alike.
“One of my standout achievements has been successfully delivering and supporting key CrewStart improvements that have helped streamline client processes and improve efficiency for users.”

During his time at Sargent-Disc, Dinesh has witnessed a continued focus on innovation and transformation across the business.

“I’ve seen continued investment in technology, process improvements, and an increasing focus on digital transformation to better support both the business and our clients.”

A big part of what makes his role enjoyable is the opportunity to work collaboratively across teams and use his knowledge to help solve challenges.

“I enjoy solving problems, working with different teams, and supporting colleagues by sharing my product expertise.”

Dinesh’s development has been supported through exposure to a variety of projects, allowing him to expand both his technical knowledge and understanding of business processes.

Looking ahead, Dinesh is excited about the future and the opportunities that new technologies will bring.

“I’m excited about the company’s continued growth and its commitment to embracing new technologies that will help drive efficiency, innovation and customer satisfaction.”

Swati Aparna:Driving Continuous Improvement and Innovation

As we continue celebrating 40 years of Sargent-Disc, we’re proud to recognise the talented people who help shape our business every day. This spotlight features Swati Aparna, Business Analyst, who joined us four years ago and has played an important role in improving processes, supporting clients, and helping drive innovation across our CrewStart application.

After moving to the UK to complete a Master’s degree, Swati began searching for a role that would build on her previous experience as a Business Analyst. Sargent-Disc proved to be the perfect fit.
“The opportunity at Sargent-Disc aligned well with my previous work experience and gave me the chance to continue developing my skills while working in an industry I find interesting.”
Since joining, she has enjoyed being part of a collaborative team and contributing to projects that support the film and television industry.

One of her proudest achievements has been helping to streamline the project setup process within the CrewStart application. Through ongoing collaboration and a shared commitment to improvement, the team has significantly enhanced efficiency for both internal users and clients.
“It’s particularly rewarding to see clients return to work with us. I believe our efficient setup process and commitment to continuous improvement have played a role in building that trust and long-term relationship.”
Swati has also witnessed a number of exciting developments across the business, including the introduction of AI tools, access to LinkedIn Learning, and a continued focus on improving and streamlining processes.
“Right now, I’m exploring AI for analysis, but overall I enjoy my interactions with different productions and studios.”
“The requirement ownership I’ve been given has helped me strengthen my planning and organisational skills. It’s encouraged me to think beyond individual client requests and focus on solutions that can benefit multiple clients.”
Looking ahead, she is excited to see how the CrewStart application continues to evolve and deliver even greater value to clients across the industry.

NFTS Scholar Spotlight – Jade Fabiyi

For over ten years Sargent-Disc has provided its annual scholarship for students attending the National Film and Television School (NFTS). The scholarships serve as a key part of the company’s work to recognise the excellence achieved by the NFTS and its students.

Sargent-Disc has supported over 20 graduates who may not have been able to attend the school without the extra help. The company is very proud of this support and the students as they have completed their studies and entered the film and TV industry. We caught up with Jade Fabiyi, one of this year’s scholars, to find out what she’s been up to.

As I come to the end of my year studying Production Management at the National Film and Television School, I’ve found myself reflecting on just how much has happened over the last year. It’s been an incredibly rewarding experience, full of challenges, opportunities and moments that have reinforced why I chose this course.


Before joining NFTS, I had already started building my career in the industry. Through BFI and Arts Emergency, I was introduced to opportunities that helped me get my first steps into film and television. I was working as a runner and production assistant, gaining valuable experience, but I felt I’d reached a point where my progression was stagnant. I wanted to develop the skills and confidence needed to take the next step in my career, and I knew NFTS would give me the opportunity to do that.


Receiving a scholarship from Sargent Disc played a huge part in making that possible. Their contribution towards my course fees was genuinely a deciding factor in whether I could afford to attend NFTS. Without that support, studying here may not have been possible, and I’m incredibly grateful for the investment they made in my future.


One of the things I’ve valued most about the course has been the opportunity to experience such a broad range of productions. Throughout the year, I’ve worked across animation, documentary, science and natural history, before recently wrapping on my graduation fiction film a few weeks ago. Each production came with its own challenges and taught me something different about production management. From adapting to different teams and workflows to solving problems under pressure, every project has helped me grow both professionally and personally.


Alongside my studies, I was fortunate enough to get two weeks of work experience on the upcoming A24 film Katana. I was invited back shortly after completing the work experience s to work as a paid daily. It was a real confidence boost and showed me that the skills I was developing at NFTS were already translating into professional opportunities.


I’ve also continued building my freelance experience through Loop Talent, a crew diary service that has connected me with daily work across commercials and feature films. I joined the service as a runner in 2024 as part of their collaboration with Arts Emergency, and over time I’ve progressed into production assistant roles. It’s been encouraging to see that progression continue alongside my studies, and each new production has allowed me to learn from experienced crews while expanding my network within the industry.


Looking back, this year has given me far more than technical knowledge. It has challenged me, pushed me outside my comfort zone and helped me become a more confident and capable production manager. I’ve met talented filmmakers, worked on projects I never imagined I’d have the opportunity to be part of, and gained experiences that I know will stay with me throughout my career.


Alongside production, I’ve also started developing my own work. I’ve been writing a short film of my own, which has given me a different perspective on storytelling and what it means to develop a project from an idea. It’s something I want to continue alongside my career in production. As I prepare to graduate, I’m excited to continue building my career. My goal is to keep developing, take on greater responsibility and continue progressing!
