'Sargent-Disc has generously agreed to support two of our students through scholarships, and we thank them wholehearedly for their continued interest and involvement with the National Film and Television School...' Nik Powell, Director of NFTS
At the UK Film Reception in Cannes last week, Laurence Sargent, director of Sargent-Disc, announced that the company will be offering scholarships for two high-calibre Production Management students at the National Film and Television School (NFTS), to begin with applicants starting the course in September 2013.
The scholarships are being established to demonstrate the value of contributions made by the NFTS and its students to the film industry, and recognise its efforts in achieving excellence. Sargent-Disc continues to acknowledge the successes of NFTS graduates, who consistently feature in prestigious award nomination lists.
This year, NFTS graduates have featured in 127 credits on 24 films nominated for Oscars and BAFTAs. Furthermore, the NFTS was the only UK film school to have a selected student film at Cinéfondation (The Magnificent Lion Boy) at the Cannes Film Festival in 2013.
Edi Smockum, Director of Short Courses at the NFTS, said:
''We are over the moon that Sargent-Disc - who in the past have provided prizes, work experience and tuition to our students - have extendended their generosity with scholarship money which will make a huge difference to the two students who benefit. As providers of the software that is so integral to the smooth functioning of the film industry, we are proud to be associated with Sargent-Disc'.
We are pleased to support selected students for future courses.
This is complemented by Sargent-Disc's announcement of Academic Partnership with the NFTS, which also forms part of the company's efforts to support future filmmakers. We look forward to continuing our strong relationship with the NFTS.
