John Sargent delivered Movie Magic Budgeting training in Kuala Lumpur as part of the Iskandar Malaysia Creative Industry Talent Development Programme in association with the Met Film School.
The Met Film School asked John Sargent to teach the Movie Magic Budgeting course to a class of 15 over the course of a week. The course was taken by a diverse group of students all of whom were working within the film industry in Malaysia and at different stages in their careers.
Following on from the practical Movie Magic Scheduling course, the aim of the budgeting course was to provide a full understanding of budgeting principles and practices and to develop competent use of Movie Magic software, the international industry standard used by production professionals worldwide.
The course gave students valuable insight into the tools needed to work in international film production and an understanding of the factors that need to be considered when making a film financially viable. The course was delivered with a hands-on approach and the participants were able to create their own budgets in order to become familiar with Movie Magic and its features. The training encouraged collaborative working and included regular Q&A sessions to provide a personalised and valuable experience.
