With 20 organisations involved and 17 unique sessions at BAFTA HQ, the Short Filmmakers' Market is a great opportunity for new filmmakers.
Sargent-Disc will be one of the 20 organisations welcoming new and short filmmakers to take over BAFTA HQ for a third year running, on Sunday 24th July. The day will be packed full of discussions, debates and declamations plus all-day screenings, and an industry market with many the UK's top media and film organisations.
The Sargent-Disc stand will have demonstrations of Movie Magic budgeting and scheduling software, and the opportunity to ask the experts about how it works and how to get trained.
In the afternoon we will be hosting a round table discussion as part of the 'Meet the pro' strand, looking at budgeting and scheduling feature films. Lara Sargent (production accountant and director of Sargent-Disc) and Brian Donovan (line producer) will provide the opportunity to be quizzed about how it works in the industry, and give you Sargent-Disc's Top 10 Tips for budgeting and scheduling.
Other sessions cover essential skills such as financing for short films; casting and directing actors; thinking creatively about distribution and generating revenue for your films. The pros and cons of 3D cinema; DIY low budget games and film production; and 'crowd funding' films will also be debated.
Sessions cost £5, screenings are free, and all ticket holders are invited to a free industry breakfast (courtesy of Skillset) and networking drink at the end of the day. Join the next generation of Britain's film and television industry in this packed day at BAFTA.
