68th Festival de Cannes - May 2015

Summary

Sargent-Disc and our affiliates attended the Cannes Film Festival again this year, where we attended several events. We reflect on the highlights of this year's Festival.

68th Festival de Cannes

Awards

On Sunday 24th May, all the winners of the prestigious Cannes awards were revealed. Juries chaired by the likes of Ethan and Joel Cohen, Isabella Rossellini and consisting of talent such as Guillermo Del Toro, Sienna Miller and Rossy de Palma, selected each winner out of an amazing selection of art showcased at the festival this year.

The much sought after Palme d'Or was awarded to Dheepan (Directed by Jacques Audiard). In Audiard's award-winning piece, a former soldier, young woman and little girl pose as a family in order to seek asylum in France, and escape civil war in Sri Lanka.  The Grand Prix was taken by László Nemes' Saul Fia (Son of Saul), whilst the Jury Prize was given to Yorgos Lanthimos' The Lobster.

Women in Film and Television Brunch

Following the positive outcome of the previous year's partnership, Sargent-Disc supported Women in Film and Television (WFTV) in Cannes, including the WFTV brunch which took place on the Coutts boat. The event provided an opportunity for women working across the film and television industry to come together in an intimate setting and discuss the industry.

International Producers Afternoon Tea Reception

Sargent-Disc, along with their affiliates, EP Financial Solutions, Canada Film Capital and EP Canada, hosted an afternoon tea reception at La Plage Royale which enabled producers from around the world to network. The reception was a great success, and Sargent-Disc look forward to seeing everyone again next year at Cannes.
