2015 Production Guild Award Winners Announced

The Production Guild of Great Britain is due to hold its 2015 Awards on Saturday 19th September, recognising the remarkable accomplishments of its members working in film or television.

This year's awards support the MAMA Youth Project, which works to increase diversity within the entertainment industry and help young people to secure employment by teaching them core skills.

Taking place at The Grove in Hertfordshire, The Production Guild Awards, in association with Warner Bros Studios Leavesden, will award four individuals/teams for their work in film and TV production:

  • Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Warner Bros Productions Ltd., Roy Button OBE, DL receives The Production Guild Contribution to the Industry Award in association with Panavision. As Head of Physical Production for Warner Bros. Productions Ltd., Roy is responsible for all films based out of the UK, Europe, Africa and the Middle East, and has been the driving force behind Warner Bros Studios Leavesden, Europe's largest studio. Roy's 46 year career began as a runner, after which he travelled up through the ranks of 1st and 2nd Assistant Director, Production Manager and Producer. As Assistant Director, he has worked with filmmakers such as Richard Attenborough, Steven Spielberg, Richard Marquand on films including Cry Freedom, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi. He has also been a Production Manager for Clint Eastwood on White Hunter and Black Heart. Roy is currently a member of the FITB (Film Industry Training Board), the board of the British Film Commission and is involved with training programmes within the UK film industry. Roy was awarded an OBE by Her Majesty The Queen for services to the film industry.

  • The Production Guild Member/Team of the Year Award in association with Millbrook goes to the UK production team behind 24: Live Another Day, the hit TV series from Twentieth Century Fox Television. Producer and British Film Commission Chairman Iain Smith OBE and his team delivered on every count; the turnover speed of writing, shooting and going to air being unprecedented in British production.

  • Assistant Production Accountant Jessamyn Keogh received The Production Guild's Rising Star Award in association with Warner Bros Studios Leavesden. In 2012, Jess joined the Production Guild's Assistant Production Accountant Training Scheme (APATS) funded by Creative Skillset, taking placements on Disney's Muppets Most Wanted, Channel 4's Toy Boy (Series two) and Sky 1's Starlings (Series two). Since graduating in 2013, Jess has moved upwards rapidly, working as 1st Assistant Accountant on series five of E4's Misfits, followed by series five and six of ITV drama Downton Abbey. Jess will soon start as 1st Assistant Accountant on upcoming BBC One drama Taboo, starring Tom Hardy.

  • The Production Guild Award in association with Creative Skillset goes to Producer Mairi Bett, due to her enduring dedication to the career development of young producers and production crew. Along with Steve Clark-Hall, Mairi created Skyline Films over 25 years ago, her many producing credits including the Oscar®-winning and BAFTA-nominated Jane Eyre (Focus Features/Ruby Films), BAFTA winning and Oscar®-nominated United 93 (Working Title/Universal) and the upcoming Victor Frankenstein (Davis Entertainment). Mairi became Head of Production at Archery Pictures in May 2014, and acted as Exec Producer on Asif Kapadia's upcoming Ali and Nino, adapted from the classic novel of the same name by Oscar®-winning screenwriter Christopher Hampton.

The Production Guild award winners were nominated by the Production Guild's industry membership, and selected by juries of leading industry professionals. The Production Guild's Contribution to the Industry Award is nominated and awarded to an individual voted for by the Production Guild board.
